Faith (3rd Debate)

Faith was addressed and I tend to be picky on this. It's not that I wouldn't change it, it's that our country stands by a principle of separation of church and state. Kerry came out and said that his Catholic religion has greatly influenced him. The idea though is for it to not motivate any decisions made. I caught Bush saying his religion influences his decisions. He said that he prays a lot and it is personal. Followed it saying that prayer and religion sustain me. Added that he makes decisions from principle and principles come from his personal life. If you are still with me, his principles, prayer, and personal life are intertwined and are basically in my opinion inseparable. He said God wants everyone to be free and stated that he imposed this idea on Afghanistan. I think this endangers America. I believe Bush and Osama are leaders of a Holy War. What comes down to is this is a stand off of religious principles. Muslim principles have conflicted with Bush's faith. I adamantly feel that Bush has not separated church from state and this has led us down the wrong path. It doesn't matter if separation of church and state is right or wrong. What matters is whether or not our president will follow accepted rules while in power. Separating church and state in my opinion is an accepted rule.

The Litmus Test

I am relatively new to this possibility, but I know my biology. I think acids are red and bases are blue. Republicans are red and Democrats are blue. So could we say that Republicans are eating away at our economy? No, but I think many Republicans are failing to examine both sides because if they do, it might affect their support for Bush. Some have done the right thing and criticized the actions of a few. There is a group called Republicans for Kerry. Is there a group called Democrats for Bush?

Minimum Wage

Many issues receive attention. I haven't heard much on minimum wage and I believe this is something to take interest in. Certainly, I agree that we should raise it. If someone disagrees, please explain because this seems to be a beneficial thing.

Kerry says the Republican House won't host this or I am guessing won't allow this to be brought up during any of the meetings. The raise would greatly benefit single women. I am without a defense for Bush. I read in the paper today something about Bush pushing a corporate tax cut. I feel like this is the last thing he should do. It seems like he rewards corporations. He is so closely related with so many large corporations that he has to look out for his "buddies". If we want someone whose going to value families, I think Kerry wins. I think Kerry will do a better job in this area.

Largely Questioned

I want to begin a search for information to find out the TRUTH behind some of these things. I will list them out and then I will post my findings. Comment if you have something to answer my questions.

1) The transitional money? Will there be a 2 trillion dollar hole?
2) Bush mentioned a "Loon Report". I have no idea what that is. I want to find more on that.
3) Is Kerry's proposal a government run health program?
4) Is Bush's characterization of Kerry's health proposal fictional?

I have some ideas but I am not sure if they are clear. The debate "muddied" my thinking. I'm not too sure about what is really going on in health care.

Health Insurance (3rd Debate)

The big question is: Whose responsible for higher costs?

Bush let out a cackle and responded that he sure hoped his administration wasn't at fault. He believes that the consumer isn't involved enough. And I have to be honest and say, I have nothing in response to that. I don't have facts to prove it or say it's false. Perhaps someone could post a comment directing me towards something so I can increase my knowledge on this specific aspect.

Kerry, on the other hand, I believe he laid out some really good reasons why health care is higher. He stated that the President had blocked drugs from Canada. He talked about Veterans of America and Medicare for seniors and the difficulties those were experiencing. And he pointed out that people are sicker and are without health insurance. True or not, Kerry put more substance behind what was said.

Marriage (3rd Debate)

Marriage is between a man and a woman. That is understood and will not change for a long time. I believe even if it was legal to have same-sex marriages, we would still feel uncomfortable with the idea. All people can agree same-sex couples have rights but can we rightfully respect those couples? I struggle with that. I have to hold back any insults or jokes I might have. But I don't wish to amend marriage. Marriage is a choice that is personal and should not be decided by government.

Outsourcing (3rd Debate)

Theoretically, I would be against outsourcing. I would have to be honest with myself and say that there is little to do nothing that we can do about it. Kerry recently said in the debate that he would like to even the playing field. Getting a benefit for going overseas is something I can't support, and I also would like to see fiscal discipline restored. No matter whose side you are on, it is obvious that our economy isn't up to par. And I can only infer that there is a great possibility that we aren't being fiscally responsible.

Truth Experience

While I was sitting at a table with people eating lunch yesterday, the movie Fahrenheit 9/11 was brought up. One person chose to side with Bush and the other 4 people were influenced by the documentary. They told him repeatedly of the mistakes Bush had made. This one person refuses to watch Fahrenheit 9/11 believing that it is a dumb film that has little to no truth. It doesn't matter whether or not the movie is correct or not. What matters is that this one person is going to blind himself to another perspective just because he thinks it's wrong. I tried to read a book by Michael Savage. It said a lot of damning things towards a side that I tend to like. But I have the knowledge of what other people want/think and without that, I would be like Rush Limbaugh, off popping prescription pills as I rant and rave.
