Robin Williams "uncensors" himself. I am sure the FCC is grateful for that. You just saved 500,000 dollars Robin.

The Oscars

Greatest night in Hollywood. Best night in movies. It is the Academy Awards.

Perhaps my interest in politics could only be matched by my interest in movies. Every year I make picks and this year I was happy to see Million Dollar Baby win Best Picture over The Aviator. I am glad that Jamie Foxx won for Ray. Morgan Freeman finally got the Oscar he deserved having not succeeded to win one for Shawshank Redemption or Driving Miss Daisy. For Best Actress, I was not expecting Hilary Swank to beat Annette Bening, but her performance was Oscar-worthy. I wanted to see Natalie Portman get the award for her acting in Closer. Cate Blanchett won because she played Katharine Hepburn in The Aviator. Clint Eastwood won for Best Directing and definitely deserved it. Although Martin Scorsese probably could've won, Eastwood shot his movie in 37 days. That's fast for a movie and it's remarkable how well it was filmed. I expected Aviator to clean up the rest like it did and I expected The Incredibles to win.

Chris Rock did an okay job as the host. It wasn't like the Whoopi-Steve Martin-Crystal cycle that had been going on for some time. Chris Rock did some stand up that was pretty funny and then added some jokes here and there through out the show.

The awards show was pleasing. (What do you think?)
