A Teen-ie Knowledge of the Constitution

Every now and then they do a study of the younger people in America. Children. Teens. Young adults. And it always seems to yield results that startle people incredibly. I know people who are still trying to figure out the one where it showed most young people getting news from The Daily Show. I can help you: IT'S MORE APPEALING.

Ignorance is alright until it's exposed. Then, you deserve to be hammered with criticism. Recently, people (John S. and James L. Knight Foundation--don't know who they are) did a study. The teens surveyed apparently think that the guarantees go too far when it comes to our freedom of religion, speech, press, and assembly. They want a better teaching of the Constitution because this finding was in sharp contrast to the teachers interviewed.

In a time filled with reality TV, video games, computer diaries, chatting, movies, Internet porn, etc., do you really expect young people to spend time reading the Constitution and caring about it? How ignorant can you be to waste money on a study that will yield results that should be expected?

This Day: In Republicans

As part of keeping a tab on the two parties of America, let's take a look at Republicans.

Hype is a big word for Republicans who like a Hollywood marketer like to create buzz around something and snag the American people. The American people are now hearing about Wednesday night's State of the Union speech as Bush and the rest of the Right Wing Alliance of America (yea, you know what I am talking about) are getting ready for what should be a great night. Now I don't particularly like Bush, the speaker. I find that he is an acquired taste. But if you want to keep up with what's going on in America, it is necessary to watch the State of the Union. I figure the speech will go like this:

First half: Thank you for your support with the overhyped Iraq war; Iraqis are now free
Second half: Join me now in fighting the overhyped Social Security crisis; your efforts will determine the "future of America"

You see...if it's not an issue, the Republicans make it one. It works, but it also costs a lot of money and wastes a lot of time.

This Day: In Democrats

I am starting this up to keep a tab on our two party system. Let's start the fun with the Democrats first.

It looks like today's entertainment from the Left comes with Harry Reid calling for an exit strategy in Iraq for our military. I am hoping we will leave soon. I am sick of all of the issues that our occupation creates. Muslims are pissed. Iraqis don't know if they should be happy or sad...it all depends on if they were recently hit with a terrorist attack or not. Insurgents are playing us like fools. The Bush administration is convinced that we need to be there when hatred of America is sprouting from being there. High-profile Iraqis are seeking for a way we can leave very soon since the election is over. Harry Reid has stirred up trouble by making his opinion vocal before the State of the Union. Big Deal! I think we need to start taking the idea of an exit strategy seriously. Our job is done. We've planted the "seed of democracy". Hopefully a good plant will grow. This occupation is costing a lot of money and more and more each day. President Bush...open your left ear and listen.

And Democrats...Please, take the time to come to a consensus on what you exactly want to happen in the exit strategy. You all are voicing varied opinions on how to exit. It has many confused and many laughing because they don't know what to think.

Also, pro-lifers are different from pro-choice obviously. But if you don't respect them with respect and tolerance, your party could continue to lose. Just a thought: No one ever legislates abortion. It's a poor excuse for not electing somebody but bring it up and it can kill if you don't side with the American majority. Right now, obviously, we like to be pro-lifers as shown with the re-election of Bush. That's how he won.
