An Exploration

I decided to surf the Internet finding information about the U.S. possession of nuclear weapons. There are many countries right now where possession of nuclear weapons is critical. But how can we expect countries like Iraq and North Korea to come clean when we ---the ones asking them to get rid of the nuclear weapons program---have nuclear weapons?

This hypocrisy is dangerous to our country. Reasonably, we should not expect countries to take us seriously when we are continuing our nuclear weapons program. That's bad enough. How do we think countries feel when we use forms of WMDs in battle? Click here:U.S. Use of WMDs in Iraq War

I visited the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists for some Nuclear Weapons Data. The site can lay out everything up to 2005 that the U.S. has been doing with nuclear weapons (creation,etc.). The bulletin was "founded in 1945 by scientists who worked on the Manhattan Project at the University of Chicago and [who] were deeply concerned about the potential future use of nuclear weapons and nuclear war." The bulletin allows people to click on other countries for information on their nuclear weapons programs. Sadly, the information on North Korea is two years behind and so are other countries' data who could pose threats to the U.S. Powers like Iran and Iraq do not even show up.

An eye-opener to me is this: Nuclear Pursuits. It outlines nuclear pursuits of five countries: U.S., Russia, France, China, Britain. Where are the Middle Eastern threats and North Korea?

Nuclear weapons threats posed by North Korea and Iran could have just materialized over the past two years. Also, one could make the case that "intelligence" on these threats must be kept secret. In fact, I reckon the Bush administration has tried to keep the nuclear weapons data of these countries secret from the public. Yet, in the post-9/11 era, Americans have a right to know how secure they are. They have theright to information on REAL threats to their homeland. But if you remember, this post did not begin to discuss secrecy....actually, it was on hypocrisy...

Logically, we cannot expect Kim Jong-Il to care about what we want him to do with his nuclear weapons if we have nuclear weapons. I refuse to support U.S. attacks against countries possessing nuclear weapons until we do not possess nuclear weapons that could harm an entire country.
