One Thing for JasonH

You have a nice set of ideas and some decent facts to back up what you say. This isn't directly related to the past comments but I want to know...

What do you think of the Patriot Act in terms of its effects on Muslims? What about Bush dissenters?

The information I have has come from books condemning Bush for his actions and/or from the news. The accuracy may be poor so I am looking for your perspective to help shape my view.

I really don't know that much about the Patriot Act. I did skim over it quickly so take this comment with a grain of salt.

Effect on Muslims:
The acts specifically condemns discrimination of Muslims.

Bush dissenters:
I will lump this in with people that disrupt or protest. The section I quoted in a previous post is what worries me the most about the Patriot Act. A threat is just words, written or spoken, not an intent. I don't agree with how a person can be detained for joking about a bomb. I think this will have to be changed.

Other than action against threats, I see nothing in there about taking away civil liberties. The threat thing is big though.
