Bush and Howard Stern Both Agree

Our fiscally irresponsible president and America's favorite pervert happen to agree on something. What could they possibly agree upon?

Bush and Howard Stern both share the feeling that parents are "first line of responsibility" when comes to protecting children from indecent material.

I particularly like the stance that Bush takes in this quote:

As a free speech advocate, I often told parents who were complaining about content, you're the first line of responsibility...They put an off button on the TV for a reason. Turn it off.

He also adds more to make me even more appreciative of his agreement with Stern:

I do think though that government can, at times, not censor, but call to account, programming that gets over the line. The problem, of course, is the definition of 'over the line'.

Freedom of speech is part of a group of Natural Laws. These Natural Laws should not be legislated. I hate that America has an FCC. But the FCC is there for those insecure Americans that can't handle people who are indecent. Welcome to America...we provide homes for the indecent. Michael Powell used to be the FCC chairman. He will be replaced obviously with a new FCC chairman. To the new chairman Bush makes this request:

Please tell me where the line is, and make sure you protect the capacity of people to speak freely in our society, but be willing to, if things go too far, call them to account.

As Bush so proudly likes to utter...Amen! Thank you for making it obvious that you support free speech. Now I know you do not support dissent of your administration...but I'll let that slide for the moment. Everyone watch the interview 8 pm Sunday night on C-SPAN from the Map Room of the White House to hear him express his shared feeling with Howard Stern on the parents' role in censorship.
